If You Believe You Can, You're Halfway There

We believe that building a strong foundation and support system is the key to long-term sobriety. We encourage our clients to learn to trust and lean on one another while learning to become a stronger individual. The key groundwork for a successful 12 step program is community and fellowship, and we strongly emphasize that to all of our residents.

About Us

The Sanctuary House is a residential treatment program consisting of inpatient residential halfway house services. This male-only facility provides clients, who are at least 18 years old, with treatment for chemical dependency.

The mission of The Sanctuary House’s Rehabilitation program is to assist alcoholic and drug dependent adults in achieving four long-term goals.

FAQs

The purpose of Sanctuary House or a halfway house is to serve as a bridge or support network between rehab and independent life. Supported by staff and peers, residents are encouraged to develop life and social skills to better cope with society and recovery.

Halfway housing is designed to support these needs in a structured environment through on-site staff. At Sanctuary House, we have technicians who possess endless hours of training and personal recovery experience, peer support, and credentialed clinical professionals.

Staff work with clients using various programs and approaches, such as linking them with clinical treatment, connecting them to peer support groups such as Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and Narcotics Anonymous (NA), and providing life skills training on site to prepare them for living sober, independently.

Half-way house stays are not free, the client’s insurance policy may cover the cost of their stay at a half-way house. Sanctuary House accepts Community Care Behavioral Health as well as PA Medical. In some instances the client can contact us to see if we can help with coverage through our local Single County Authority.

At a halfway house, you can expect the following:

  • Duration of Stay: The length of your stay depends on the level of care provided and is a case by case basis.
  • Staff Support: Sanctuary house has 24-hour on-site staff. These professionals, such as technicians and counselors, offering guidance and support throughout your recovery.
  • Living Arrangements: Sanctuary house has shared bedrooms for two residents, with full-size bunk beds.
  • Employment and Volunteering: Working or volunteering is required at Sanctuary house.
  • Medication Policies: Sanctuary House stores your medication in a double locked closet and will be given to you for self-administration during designated medication times.
